Makeover

This is an old painting of mine . I posted this here a while back , it is in my archives somewhere if you care to look for it . I replaced the black color that was in between the " tiles " with different shades of blue . I was tired of looking at it before . To me , it seemed tooo dark . Painting in the blue colors brings it into new life , I think . The beetle's wings are made from a fine metal fabric . The body was made with angelina film . The flower petals are made from leather , and painted with metallic gold .

By the way ......

the orange tie dye is just a scrap piece of fabric and will not be part of this butterfly .

CD centerpiece has its place

Ive attached the cd  piece to a canvas , Im not sure what this will become . I will most definitely be adding some bead work , that's a sure thing . But first , I will finish the painting part .

Wings

I painted the very edges of the wings with black acrylic. I then mounted the embroidery onto a slice of leather . Then I carefully cut the wings out . I then added my jewel , which is a clear , flatish , glass blob.with angelina film underneath . I made a double thick leather circle , and attached the wings . I also sprinkled some jet black glitter around the jewel . I find that diamond glaze works for me when it comes to glueing it all in place .It is around 13 inches in length .

For the love of beads

I have it figured out

I like it ! It only took me ten minutes to make . So simple .

Wings

I'm using mainly metallic threads . I'm thinking about making a necklace . The threads are so bright , I have to take breaks due to being " snowblind " after a half hour or so !
