bead covered mirror / picture frame

I used Diamond glaze to glue the beads on.

Very hard to get a good pic of this.

" Spiders and Stars " 2009

What I love about this ... the 21 triangle cyrstals and the little black spiders. I used embroidery and beads in the center, and glued blue and silver bugle beads around it. Its all done on a piece of wood and painted with silver enamal.

Where it all happens

My studio.

Feb piece started

Right now the micro couching with string is taking a very long time and is killing my eyeballs big time.( not to mention the fingers of course ) It will be worth the pain though, I think.

Sneak a peek

Ive got somewhat of an assembly line going, 4 to 6 at a time, at the moment. This is just a tiny piece of a much bigger one..... in line with the others... Im not sure if I will use beads.

in the works

Lots of metallic films used here. Very bright!

In the works

Im using thick cord and threads on this one. Sure is rough on the fingers though. I use a pair of pliers to pull the needle through or it wouldnt get done! ( Couching tecnique.)

reverse glass painting

This is my coffee table. It has a glass top which i turned upside down to paint using the same materials as " Universe ".

" Universe " 2009

This was done using the reverse glass painting technique. The paint was applied on the back of the glass being careful to add layers in the right order. I used angelina fibers, paint ,a couple of big sequins, and cut out circles of lenticular fabric.

Buglebead frenzy in the works

Heres something ive been working on..Im not quite sure where I am going with this one.. Im open to suggestions, if you have any! Ive simply woven beads together on a frame. Mostly bugle beads with some crystal and seed beads here and there. It might end up hanging in a window, who knows?

1992 untitled

Again, the little circle is stuffed and the rest is flat. All thread.

More thread and beads

another huge piece that will eventually become the center of something bigger. The middle of this one is extremely puffed (sorta like a breast you could say) I used tons of bugle beads and a handful of mirrors, as well as thread.

a little closer

thread painting

This large piece is 18" across. The flowered part is slightly puffed and raised above the outer vines, which cannot be seen in this photo. Its a fine example of how dimension is completely lost in the photo process. I did this back in the 90s. It will eventually be the center piece of another painting later.

Finally done with this one "Beaded canvas" 2010

I started this one a couple of years ago.... Its my first serious bead piece. I had no plans in the design at all, it just came out that way. Its a sort of bead sampler... I learned how it feels to work with beads and played with different techniques. I had fun while it lasted!

To all of those wondering...

All my stitches are done by hand. I dont use a machine!

Pure thread

This thread painting started with a generic tattoo design, the dragon. It is 14" across. I have a thing for lines as you can see... and I love dots too!

From Iceland to Minnesota

The ceramic face in the middle.... is all I have left of what was once a bigger piece from Iceland. I was heartbroken when it fell to the floor and broke in pieces. At least the face was undamaged. I used copper colored baking clay and crystals to bring it back to life.

This is a closer look at "Under the Sea."

Look what I found

This single flower is a little over an inch across. I found that some of the advantages to using sewing thread is that I can really get in allot of detail.Sometimes even splitting a single thread, if you can imagine.....

An old embroidered jean patch and flower patch from the early 80s!

Thread scrap beads

This is a recycled thread project over the years with smaller thread beads. Its around 12 inches across

Tightly wound balls of thread can be easily strung! Metallic threads mixed in or with a bit of Angelina fiber....wow!
